Then, we compared their selections with their linguistic performance using DCTs in order to determine if they were a sign of a pragmatic resistance. Additionally, the participants were asked to explain their decision to use pragmatic language in a particular situation.

The key issue in research on pragmatics is: Why do some learners decide to not accept native-speaker norms? A recent study sought to answer this question by using a variety of experimental tools, including DCTs, MQs and RIs. This will allow them to better know how different cultures may impact the pragmatic behavior of students in the classroom and beyond.
